Why INTEG?

For over 30 years, I have researched, studied and applied theories of human potential. I had the option of studying psychology formally; however, it did not hold the intrigue I had about what constitutes the superior human being. I was less inclined to study the pathology of human mental health, not that there is anything wrong with that; it just didn’t interest me. I wanted to know about the psychology of superior human performance. That was a journey I wanted to embark on as a life intention. Today, I am still on that journey, but I have covered some formidable ground, such as Transpersonal Psychology, Integral Theory, Formal Axiology, Adult Developmental Psychology, to name a few. I have also studied great minds in this area, such as John Demartini, Ken Wilber, Robert Hartman, Ralph Locke; the list is long.

As for the application! I desired to apply this knowledge to the working environment. Where else can you find such a rich ecosystem as this to use my research and study? I have learnt a lot over the years, and I have had 100s of clients happy to apply it.

The name INTEG has gone through several iterations of meaning. It initially referenced Integral Theory as its source – a rich and comprehensive body of knowledge. Today, it holds a more active and direct purpose—the intentional navigation through emergent growth. It captures 5 of the essential elements I have found that are essential for success. Let’s look at each one:

INTENTION

Who am I?

Where am I going?

What do I do?

How will I progress?

When will I get there?

The quality of questions one asks one’s self determines the quality of outcome one gets. These are quality question that set the focus of our intention. Having a strong, confident and explicit purpose is where a journey starts. Time spent answering these questions is an investment in one’s future. I have found that these questions penetrate to multiple inner layers, and the depth varies from person to person, which is ok. Nevertheless, these are the essential questions to ask to uncover personal intention.

NAVIGATION

A journey starts with an intention. When one is on a trip, one can encounter many obstacles, distractions and intrusions. Each one of these can initially seem like a setback. However, I have found that their acceptance and embrace can result in unexpected qualities that assist our navigation towards our intention. I wonder how many reading this can look back on a challenging instance in their life and now see it as an unintentional gift, that when they had navigated through it, it made them more equipped and a better human being. The destination is not always the main game, but the journey to get there and how we have navigated it makes us who we are. It’s not where we get to, but who we become along the path that holds the most outstanding quality.

THROUGH

Sometimes amid many challenges, especially when we can not see the end, we can keep walking. Resilience, determination and tenacity get us through. The movement of walking gives us a feeling of direction. When an intention is clear and a barrier presents itself that needs navigation, we need to move into action and through it. Through is a verb, a doing word. Just having an intention and a map to help in our navigation does not result in action. We need to move and deploy the plan. These are all actions that are very rarely one-off moves. They are a series of continual, skilful movements that accumulate over time and lead towards completion. Competency and increases in capacity are often the results of constant movement through a challenge.

EMERGENT

Emergence is such an essential consideration in the INTEG practice. Working with what is emerging is such an exciting place to be. It is surfing the frothy edge of what wants to come next. Most opportunities come when we are in alignment with emerging trends, ideas and futures thinking. The definition of luck is when opportunity meets preparation. So, where is your next option, and are you prepared?

By scanning the environmental conditions, the presenting situation, one can develop a deep knowingness about what’s next and emerge with it. So please don’t go to where the puck is; go to where it is going. So many things are currently emerging, covid pandemic, worldviews, values, technology, geopolitics, business models, means of production, climate change, consumer behaviour, to name but a few. Life exists on the border of this apparent chaos. And your maximum growth opportunities are there too.

GROWTH

We are ripe and rotting, or we are green and growing. I am sure you have all seen the impact of complacency when someone or some business has determined that “I have made it!” or “we have arrived”. At that point, what usually happens is entropy begins to kick in—the start of the downward spiral. The universe is continual and, as far as we know, will not stop. Everything is in motion, from the atom to the galaxies. INTEG believes in the Methuselah principle; Methuselah lived until he was 969! During that time, he kept on growing. Translating that into a workplace context means we have to continue a growth mindset; we have never arrived! We keep on growing. Current understanding of adult developmental psychology and neurological research says that the mind is plastic and holds the potential for continuous growth (If we feed it correctly). Personal growth is the ultimate journey. However, as Robert Hartman once said, “most people live in the basement of their mansions.”

My journey has been a journey of growth, and it’s a never-ending journey. The evolution of my values and thought is no different to yours. We need to protect ourselves from things and people that can bring about our closed or arrested development.

You, your leadership, your business must set yourself on an intentional path and navigate through the emergent dynamics onto your continual growth. Welcome to INTEG Solutions; we are here to partner with you on that journey.

None of this, ironically, can be taken for granted or thrown to the winds of chance. Each individual is unique, and each business has its particular objectives and environments within which it functions. Thus, the wiggle room for error is known to be narrow – one false move, and you could stagnate for years. Thankfully, through many years of trial and error and application, a solution is available. This way is called Human Emergence Logistics. Follow this link to learn more.
